December 1, 1958 - construction of I-4 begins.
It is completed in February, 1965.
During 1964 - Walt Disney begins to secretly purchase large tracts of land west of I-4 and Florida's Turnpike.
November 15, 1965 - Walt Disney announces his "Florida project."
July 14, 1967 - The Bee Line Expressway opens.
October 1, 1967 - The Magic Kingdom opens, along with the first two Disney World Hotels, The Contemporary and The Polynesian. Several weeks later, The Fort Wilderness Campground opens. December 15, 1973 - Sea World of Florida opens.
October 1, 1982 - Epcot opens.
January 1989 - TD Waterhouse Center becomes home to the Orlando Magic.
June 7, 1990 - Universal Studios Florida opens.
September 15, 1995 - Downtown Disney opens.
May 28, 1999 - Universal's Islands of Adventure open
February, 2005 - Orlando International becomes Florida's busiest airport
