One way to grab my attention is to show me pictures of kittens and puppies! Rarely have I met a little creature I didn’t love at first sight. So you can imagine my enthusiasm when I realized that there is an animal rescue league on Anguilla. It is called AARF and that stands for Anguilla Animal Rescue Foundation. The purpose of the foundation, which has been in existence only since 2000, is to promote, develop and assist in the humane treatment and care of animals in Anguilla.
In 2005, 150 cats and dogs were adopted out. Animals are taken into Morlens Veterinary Hospital where they stay for 10 days awaiting and hoping for a family. For $20 in US currency, a dog or cat gets spayed or neutered, tested for diseases, dewormed, given and flea and tick bath and receives its first vaccinations.
